When You are the Timer

Duty Explanation:Toastmasters of Evening, Dear fellow members & most welcome guests.

I am pleased to be the timer of tonight’s meeting. To conduct the meeting smoothly and on schedule, I will count time for today’s speakers in variety session, table topics session, prepared speeches and individual evaluation session.

The timing rules are as follows: Whenever you see the green board, it means you’ve reached the minimum time requirement. Whenever you see the yellow board, it means you have 1 minute left to conclude your speech. When you see the red board, it means the time is up. You have 30 seconds leeway. Please get off the stage as soon as possible. For variety session, speakers should speak at least 1 minute until seeing the green board. For table topics session, all the speakers also have to stay on the podium for at least one minute until I raised the green board.

Duty Explanation:Toastmasters of Evening, dear fellow members & most welcome guests:

I’m pleased to be the Ah-counter of tonight’s meeting. My job is to help you get rid of unnecessary vocalized pauses. They are sounds like “ah,” “er,” and “em,” or words like “well,” “and,” “but,” and “you know.” These unnecessary annoying sounds and words are the so-called “Ahs.” I will count the number of the “Ahs” I hear you make.
